The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in regular session July 5, 2016 in the Miner County Courthouse. Members present: Tom Reisch, Garrett Gassman, Voni Durant, and Alex Protsch. Absent: Roger Wentland. Vice-Chairman Protsch called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Motion by Durant, seconded by Reisch and carried to approve the agenda. The minutes of the June 21st meeting were approved.
The following correspondence was received: East Dakota Water Development District-June 16th Meeting Minutes; FEMA-SD Strategic Advances Kickoff Meeting Information; and 4-H Grounds July Calendar.
The board adjourned as a board of commissioners and reconvened as a planning commission acting as a board of adjustments. Planning Commission Chair Protsch called the meeting to order. Those present for the meeting included Protsch, Gassman, Reisch, Durant, Mike & Roxane Hunt, and Zoning Administrator Tami Severson. Protsch informed those present that Durant would be excused from voting on this matter due to Durant owning land adjacent to the property associated with this variance application. Variance applications must be approved by a 2/3rd’s majority of the entire board or 4 aye votes. Due to Wentland’s absence the board could not hear the variance application at this time. It was moved by Reisch, seconded by Gassman and carried to table the application of Michael & Roxane Hunt to move a mobile home (1995) into Miner County which is older than current zoning allows. Those in attendance were informed that the variance hearing will be continued on July 19th at 9:30 a.m. in the commission room of the Miner County Courthouse. The board adjourned as a planning commission and reconvened as a board of commissioners.
It was moved by Gassman, seconded by Durant and carried to approve the 2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant Subaward Agreement from the SD Office of Emergency Management.
