You may register to vote by using the form available using the above link and mailing the completed form to the auditor's office or by visiting the auditor's office on the 2nd floor of the Miner County Courthouse.
Voter Registration deadline is 15 days prior to any election.
Any registered voter may vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballots are available for primary and general elections six weeks prior to the election. To receive a ballot by mail, a voter must file a written application
with the auditor. In South Dakota, the Auditor must receive your application for absentee ballot during regular business hours the day before the election. Make sure you are registered before you apply to vote by absentee ballot. You can confirm your registration by visiting the Voter Information Portal
. In the event of confinement because of sickness or disability, a qualified voter may apply in writing and obtain an absentee ballot by authorized messenger. An authorized messenger delivers the ballot from the County Election Official to the qualified voter and then delivers the marked ballot to the Auditor. Any application for a ballot by authorized messenger must be received by the person in charge of the election before 3:00 p.m. the day of the election. The application may NOT be faxed.
Uniformed and overseas citizens may submit an application or request for absentee ballot by fax or emailed image to the person in charge of the election. Absentee ballot requests from overseas citizens need not be notarized.
