The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in regular session July 17, 2018 in the Miner County Courthouse. Members present: Roger Wentland, Garrett Gassman, Voni Durant, Tom Reisch and Alex Protsch. Absent: none. Chairman Wentland called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Motion by Durant, seconded by Gassman and carried to approve the agenda.
The following correspondence was received: Miner County 4-H Grounds calendar.
The minutes of the July 3rd meeting were approved.
Anna Schwader, president of the Howard FFA appeared for Public Comment. Schwader informed the commission of the Howard FFA’s plans for again hosting a swine show at the 4-H grounds on August 11th.

Others present included Carla Poulson of the Miner County Pioneer and Cindy Foster.
Motion by Gassman, seconded by Durant and carried to authorize the auditor to make an operating transfer as provided for in the 2018 General Fund budget to Emergency Management $20,000.00.
The board instructed the auditor to continue to keep the ambulance cell phone contract in place.
No quotes were received for the repair to the sidewalk on the north side of the courthouse. The board instructed the auditor to send out a request for quotes with a completion date of October 1, 2019. And a request for quotes to install a cement pad along the east side of the 4-H exhibit hall with a completion date of October 1, 2018.
A request for LED lighting upgrades to the courthouse was made by custodian Colleen Arens. The board instructed Arens to obtain quotes for the project.
Victim’s Assistant Alaina Wellnitz presented her report for time spent in Miner County assisting victims of crimes within Miner County.
Highway Superintendent Ron Krempges joined the meeting to give reports on machinery repairs, chip sealing and bridge replacement projects. He also handed out the highway 7 year plan for the board’s review.
Brittany Lunstra CHN clerical staff presented the Community Health Nurse quarterly report in the absence of Kayla Miller.
Veteran’s Services Officer Terry Lee reviewed programs and updated the board on activities within the vet services office.
Auditor Terry Zell from the SD Department of Legislative Audit presented a letter outlining the items covered under the audit being conducted of Miner County’s financial reports for fiscal years 2016 & 2017.
